Political thought in the Catalan Countries, 1714 – 2014 is the first global approach to the most pivotal ideas and political movements in the Catalan Countries from the modern period onwards. Up to now there were many monographs on particular movements or miscellaneous works pointing out the thought of the most relevant authors, but there was still not work of synthesis to review and to analyze the main political movements that developed during such a long chronological cycle. We therefore considered that it was necessary to fill this gap in order to stimulate the debate and the study about these topics as well as to start new fields of research. Finally, we want to stress that the intellectual value and the ideological plurality of the authors confers to this work an outstanding cultural level and an interest that goes well beyond the sphere of specialists in political thought.
