Dependencies of illegal aliens

Imagen articulo

This study is the result of research made in Barcelona between October and December of 2007. The conclusions stem from a qualitative approach to the relation between the labor market and illegal aliens.

The foreign population interviewed, which is in a situation of administrative irregularity, describes objectable working conditions, both in relation to the majority of regularized workers, as well as in connection with labour legislation and fundamental human rights. It should be asked whether, in order to maintain economic growth, Catalan society wants to risk creating a parallel society, affected by a law of exception which prevents its development under conditions of legal equality vis-à-vis the rest of the population.
